Recycle Out Of Date Hair Products

Davines vegan hair styling products Harrogate salonFirstly, you need to declutter! Check the expiry dates on your shampoos and conditioners, empty and recycle those bottles that are out of date. Expired products are unlikely to work as well as they should, and in some cases can even cause reactions such as scalp irritation.

Hair sprays are less likely to deteriorate but do check all cream or liquid-based products in tubs and bottles.

Now you've cleaned out your bathroom cupboards, you can restock with fresh supplies of your favourite products, or find something new from our Davines range. View the range online or pop into our Harrogate salon and we'll be happy to advise you.

Clean Your Brushes

We all know that we should regularly clean our make up brushes to avoid getting dirt and bacteria onto our faces, but did you know that the same applies to your hair brushes too? Regularly clear hair out of your hair brushes and wash them every week using a cleansing shampoo to avoid brushing dirt and grease back into your hair!

If you use a wooden or paddle brush, check the manufacturer's guidelines on washing so you don't spoil the wood effect, a quick swish with hot water should be sufficient to clean it.

Wipe Clean Your Styling Tools

GHD Styling Tools For SpringCurlers, hair straighteners and curling wands should also be cleaned regularly to get rid of germs, dirt, sprays and serums. Dirty tools will transfer dirt back onto your hair and affect how well you can style! Unplug your electrical tools before cleaning and NEVER submerge them in water.

Use a damp (not wet) cloth to clean the styling plates and make sure they are completely dry before you use them again.

If your tools aren't performing as well as they used to, now is the time to consider an upgrade. The GHD range of styling tools are eye-catching and, more importantly, work wonders with all hair types to deliver styles you'll love. Pop into the salon or visit our online store to find out more.

Empty Your Hairdryer Filter

A hairdryer filter that is full of dirt and dust can really affect how your dryer performs.  Check your manufacturer's instructions first and make sure your dryer is unplugged before removing the filter. Then simply wipe with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust, again ensuring that it is completely dry before you switch it on again.

Upgrade Your Bedding

Pillowcase for Smooth Hair"What has my bedding got to do with my hair?" we hear you ask! You spend a good few hours every night with your hair and face rubbing against your pillowcases, which can cause hair breakage, bacteria transfer and even wrinkles in your face!

Investing in a silky pillowcase can reduce friction, frizz and broken hair strands. Dermatologists even say that sleeping on a silky smooth surface will make your skin less prone to wrinkles too, so it's certainly worth a try!

If you don't want a silky pillowcase, ensure that your bedding is washed regularly to avoid bacteria build up.
